DIRECTIONS
STEP 1 - PREPARING THE CABINETS
A. Use products at room temperatures above 60 degrees only. The preparation
of the cabinets is the most important step in the refinishing process. Follow
directions completely. May be applied by brush, roller or hvlp spray system.
B. Surface must be clean, dry and free from grease, oils or other
debris. Cabinets must be sanded with 100 grit sandpaper to rough up the
surface and aid in adhesion of our paint coatings.
C. If cabinets have been waxed, remove the wax by rubbing the
cabinets with Acetone prior to sanding.
* All hardware should be removed whenever
possible or mask these items with tape prior to painting.
STEP 2 – Applying The
Primer Bonder
Primer - Thin the
primer by mixing in BRRN 605 Thinner at a maximum rate of 4 parts primer to 1 part BRRN 605
Thinner. Mix thoroughly. Apply the primer by brush, roller or Hvlp spray
system. If needed for spraying method, more or less thinner may be added for proper spraying pattern per the
manufacturer specs of your hvlp spray system.
Use light coats, allowing the primer to dry to the
touch before applying the next coat. One coat is all that is required. A
second coat may be need in problem areas. Allow primer to dry for 24 hours
before applying the high or low gloss top coat..
STEP 3 – Applying The High or Low Gloss Color Coating
A. Mask off plumbing fixtures, walls, or any other surfaces not being
refinished.
B. Stir paint thoroughly while mixing in the BRRN 101 Thinner at a
maximum rate of 4 parts paint to 1 part BRRN 101 Thinner. If a low
gloss finish is required add the Deglosser / Hardener at a maximum rate
of 3 ounces per quart of paint or 1/2 pint per gallon only after you have
mixed in the thinner. Do not add Deglosser / Hardener to paint that has
not been thinned. (You may test the sheen of the paint by drying a
sample on a white sheet of paper using a blow dryer to dry the sample)
Paint that has had Deglosser
/Hardener add to it will start hardening in 2-3 hours depending on
temperature and humidity so mix only enough paint that can be used in that
time. Discard any paint that is left over from this mixture. If a second
coat is required, mix up another batch of paint.
Please Note: If a high
gloss finish is required, do not add any Deglosser / Hardener to this paint.
Do not try to apply paint all at once. One coat is required. If a second
coat is needed wait 6 to 8 hours depending on temperature and humidity
before applying another coat.
Avoid runs, If you do get any runs, wipe the paint off with a paper towel
lightly saturated with acetone. When finished, remove masking tape and paper. Do not
allow fixture to dry with masking tape or paper left on it. Be careful not
to get debris on wet coating. Allow to Dry 24 hours – DO NOT USE THE FIXTURE
OR ALLOW THE PAINTED AREA TO GET WET FOR 24 HOURS.
Clean Up with thinner
and dispose of brushes, rollers and other materials properly. Do not
allow children in the work area.
